How Socialized Is U.S. Healthcare System?

How accurate is the accusation of Medicare for All being socialized medicine when compared to other government subsidies? Has the political climate changed since the “Obamacare” campaign of 2008–2010?

Brian posted an article about funding/pricing of GLP-1s. My concern with those, and writing them off for myself, is that they must be taken continually—great profit for pharmaceutical companies. Suggesting that they could treat other conditions only exacerbates that problem. I don’t see constant drug use as a pattern that should be encouraged, regardless of price, other than for very serious situations.
