Common Dreams call for Medicare for All
Quote from WebWeaver on July 22, 2025, 10:41 amCommon Dreams sent out a form for writing to one’s Congressfolk (both senators and representative), and I customized it as follows:
As your constituent, I am appalled at the looming loss of health care because of the so-called Big, Beautiful Bill. Health care is a human right, and no one should die because of the greed of our current health care system. I have to admit that the Patient Protection-Affordable Care Act was a better Band-Aid than I expected, but with the current actions by the administration and largely the majority party in Congress, we need now what we should have had originally: national improved and expanded Medicare for All—and that means Traditional Medicare, not the creeping, privatized “Medicare” (dis)Advantage that they are trying to implement.
The Congressional Budget Office has estimated that Medicare for All would save our health care system $650 billion annually, and save 68,000 lives a year. We can’t afford not to enact it.
Please, urge your colleagues to co-sponsor the Medicare for All Act, and demand a vote to pass it.
Thank you,
